The Double J
Hacienda & Art Ranch
The Double J
Hacienda & Art Ranch
“The Double J Hacienda is a sanctuary in which to withdraw from peripheral distractions and focus on the core of our life-purpose. Inspirational without pretension and peaceful without tedium, it gently encourages us to see ourselves for what we are: part of this magnificent universal perfection.”
Dr. Tashi Nimaya
Dharma Institute of Yoga & Ayurveda
The historic Double J Hacienda & Art Ranch is a unique Texas outpost where imagination roams free. It’s the place where the art and nature rendezvous with heart & soul. Mix in a little bit of live music, a dip in the Brazos river, a walk through the labyrinth, sunset on the best front porch in Texas, and you’ve got a trip to Texas that’s out of this world. Located on twelve beautiful acres in the undiscovered Texas hill country 45 minutes west of Ft. Worth, the Art Ranch overlooks the Brazos (de Dios) River and the Palo Pinto Mountains outside Mineral Wells. This unique creative outpost hosts events, retreats, and workshops in art, music and well being. It is a modern-day Chautauqua, a place to gather for rejuvenation of body, mind, and spirit.
“I have hung out in brothels, temples, bars, garden spots, trendy hotels, and spiritual spas. This is the best of the bunch.”
Anonymous Art Ranch Guest
Designed by architect Charles Dilbeck, the Art Ranch is a mid-20th century artifact rooted in Texas history. In the 1930’s Elmer Seybold and his wife, Dorothee purchased the cliff-top expanse of land to build the Seybold Guest Ranch. At the time, Mineral Wells attracted 150,000 people a year as a world renowned spa and resort center.
“Double J Art Ranch is the most fabulous retreat or event place close to Dallas to bring your people. They will love the nature, the fabulous energy there, and the charming hacienda. I did a cooking retreat there last year and am still hearing raves about it.”

“The Double J is a magical Texas sanctuary for healing and renewal. It’s simple, rustic rooms offer the quiet comfort of a bygone era of slow paced rest and relaxation. The expansive porch overlooking the Brazos river invites you to gather for dining, music, conversation, and just watching the sun set. Throughout the property there are tranquil and serene spots for reflection, meditation, and yoga. You can literally feel the healing power of the “crazy” water and sense the sacred grounds stimulating the creative, pioneering spirit inside yourself. Whether in silence by myself, or gathered with family and friends, it’s my favorite place to be.”
